My husband and I love watching Food Network’s “Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives” with Guy Fieri. I like hearing the stories of the places and we try to make our own versions of dishes inspired by the different restaurants.
We always mean to try to go to a restaurant featured on the show when we are traveling but we forget to look them up or there ends up not being any on the route we are going, etc. We went to Lucky’s Cafe in Cleveland, Ohio on our way back from Toronto last year and now we’ve made it to Marietta Diner in Marietta, Georgia on our way back from Tennessee to visit family. There are a couple more along this route so we’ll have some other restaurants to check out on future trips.
My hubby had the Reuben Sandwich (Your choice of Corned Beef or Pastrami with Melted Swiss Cheese and Sauerkraut on Rye Bread, served with (2) Onion Rings, French Fries, Cole Slaw & Pickle) and I had the Caribbean Monte Cristo (Turkey, Ham, and Melted Swiss & Cheddar Cheese wrapped in a Tomato Basil Tortilla, Beer Battered and Deep Fried, served with Pesto Mayonnaise & French Fries). Both were delicious and didn’t last on the plate very long!
Although we opted to skip dessert, I do want to mention it because they all looked sooooooo good.
